Evacuated due to floods? How to receive financial aid

If you were displaced due to flooding, the Government of Alberta is providing pre-loaded debit cards to help with the costs associated of living elsewhere (or suffering damages).

“Pre-loaded debit cards are being given to Albertans who can’t return to the place they live. Those who qualify receive $1,250 per adult and $500 per child to help pay for the costs of being away from home.” – Government of Alberta website

There are no restrictions on how to use the money, and you can use the cards at ATMs, for debit purchases and online purchases. In order to receive the financial assistance, you’ll need to provide 1) proof of residence 2) government issued ID.
